Mega Supremacy

“Holy s*%@, this might be the coolest thing we’ve ever done!”

–Shut Up & Sit Down, about playing Mega-games

What is it?

Mega Supremacy is a game of Supremacy 2020 played as a large, multi-player event: a ‘mega-game’ format.

Four player teams run each nation: President, Diplomat, General and Trader.  Each player has specific duties and powers.  Only the trader is allowed on the trading floor.  Only the General is allowed in the war room.  Only the Diplomat is allowed to travel to other nations and the UN.  The President tries to coordinate the teams efforts and controls building.

Why play Mega Supremacy?

  • You don’t have to learn the rules!
  • You don’t have to find people to play with.
  • You don’t have to worry about making some stupid mistake and losing the game on turn 1. You aren’t alone. You have a team to help you out and watch your back.
  • Meet lots of cool gaming people and make new friends!

What is Supremacy 2020?

A Classic board game where Superpowers battle for Supremacy of the globe in the modern nuclear age. Think Risk with nukes.  You don’t need to know Supremacy to play the Mega Game but you can learn more about it by clicking here.

Choosing the Right Position

Tip:   Don’t be intimidated by the desirable skills list.  This isn’t a job interview.  One of the great things about games is that you can play to LEARN these skills and gain experience.  Don’t be afraid to jump into something new and learn as you go.  Remember, you don’t have to be perfect.  It’s just for fun.

You can get more information in the

Player’s Guide

President

The President’s job is to lead. He must gather information from all the different team members, form a plan and then direct each team member to best achieve their common goal.

Desirable Skills

Planning, organization, leadership. Good communication skills. Presidents may be called upon to give short speeches at the UN and interviews with the Press.

Diplomat

Diplomats are your team’s primary connection with other nations. They are responsible for international relations.  They can travel and visit nation tables.  Diplomats are also in the perfect position to act as a spies:  gathering / hiding information and spreading disinformation.

Desirable Skills

Communication, negotiation and social skills. Good poker / bluffing and sales skills can help a lot as well.  Diplomats may often give short speeches at the UN.

General

Generals are in charge of all the combat and fighting in the game. They request forces and supplies from the President.  They deploy those forces and use them to stomp the enemy, upon request.

Desirable Skills

A little understanding of military history and strategy goes a long way. Are you familiar with games like Risk and Axis & Allies?  It would greatly help to be familiar with the Supremacy 2020 board game;  especially the Combat rules.  They aren’t hard to learn and there are tutorial videos about this on Youtube.  If you are a wargamer, this will be easy for you to pick up.

Trader

Traders are in charge of the economy. They pay the bills, manage debt and make sure the nation acquires all the resources they need to dominate on the world stage.  Good Traders can make Trillions in profit by buying low and selling high on the live trading floor.

Desirable Skills

Being good with simple math calculations would be a plus. Do you have a good sense of market timing?  Can you balance fear and greed?  Can you remain calm under panic and euphoria?  You must also keep your eyes firmly fixed on long term investment goals.  Skyrocketing debt can crush the strongest superpowers.

Event Staff

It is just as much fun to help run the game as it is to be a player. Why be part of the staff?

It is a great way to watch, learn and participate without the pressure of performing.

It is often MORE fun to watch all the different teams and know what is really going on!

You can get some extra cool stuff for free: given only to staff.

Event Staff positions: We need 1 Staff person in charge of each of the 4 player groups:  President, General, Diplomat, Trader.  A few extras around the room to help doesn’t hurt either.

Press Corps

Reporters are free to travel around the room. They can talk to and interview all the players.  Interviews can even be recorded in video.  Their job is to keep the world informed of important events.

Desirable Skills

Good writing and communication skills. You are expected to write short articles and publish them during the game.  Some media/tech skills are a big plus too.  Can you bring a printer and laptop to the game?  Can you quickly process photos and video to go with your story?
